King & Kingdomsಮಾದರಿ

After David realizes that taking the census of the people was wrong and came from a place of pride in his heart, the Lord must punish David out of His justice. However, He gives David options to choose his punishment. Instead of choosing a punishment by famine, or by his enemies, David chooses the punishment of a plague coming directly from the sword of the Lord.
Why does David choose this? Because he trusted greatly in the Lord’s mercy. Although David knew the Lord to be a God of justice, he also knew Him to be a God of abundant mercy. David knew that he could not trust men to be merciful in the face of destruction, but he knew he could trust in this from the Lord.
Think it Over: Where in your life are you seeking the Lord’s mercy today? How can you show this same mercy to others who have wronged you? Have faith, the Lord’s mercies are new for us every single morning.
