Isaiah Week 2 – Day 3
When Hezekiah had the chance to impress his visitors, he showed off his stuff. He flashed his storerooms, his money, his riches. He even bragged to Isaiah that there was nothing among his treasures that he didn’t show them! He viewed his stuff, his possessions, and his physical goods as the things that defined him and set him apart.
Before we are tempted to shake our head and judge Hezekiah for being so surface-level, we should do a hard check in the mirror. When someone asks how life is going, do you point to all God has done in your life or do you inflate your personal accomplishments, show off the updates in your house, and remind them of all the things you have done? If someone looked at your life, checked your social media, or listened to talk, would they see God or your own accomplishments and possessions?
