Everyone has a favorite part of their house. There's one thing in everyone's house that they can't wait to show off to guests. Maybe it's a big TV, a great painting, or a comfy couch. Everyone has something they just have to make sure guests see when they come over.

In God's house, his favorite thing to show off is this moment: the crucifixion of Jesus. This is the moment that most clearly demonstrates who God is. Here at the cross, we see God's love at work: even though we had turned our backs on him, God wanted us to return to him. We see God's grace at work: we couldn't earn our way back to him and needed him to create a way. Here at the cross, we see God's justice at work: he didn't break any of his rules to make a way for us - instead, he legally paid the penalty of sin once and for all. And all of this is tied together in Jesus hanging on the cross.

God isn't ashamed of this moment; he's proud of it. This is where his love, grace, and justice are most clearly seen, and we get a glimpse of how God feels about us--all through Jesus. That's why it's through faith in him that we're saved: he's the path back to God.
