Day 1: Encountering the Consuming Fire of God

Something I’ve learned about God in the seasons of my life is that He never holds himself back from us. He desires for us to know Him, and therefore He freely gives Himself to us. He also desires us to give ourselves to Him as a living sacrifice. This is where we take every part of our life and give it as an offering before God. Everything from my sleep, to what I eat, to where I go belongs to God. When I give my life to Him in this way, not just with my lips but with my body and my whole life, I position myself to remain consumed by Him. I am filled with His fire because I have embraced everything that He wants to do in my life.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I don’t want to be a Christian where my fire is turned on and turned off based on my emotions or on things that make me feel these feelings. I want to be consumed by You. I long to surrender all to You; however, I don’t know how to do this in my own strength. Holy Spirit, I ask you to help me die to myself, my desire, and my wants, and from doing things my way. I repent of my pride and try to be on fire in my own strength. I surrender all to you Lord; show me areas of my life I need to lay down. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
