Preparing For Marketplace Revival: Part III
In this series, we’re discussing the stages of true repentance required before God brings revival. After you’ve acknowledged your sin, if you are sincere, there should be humble sorrow.
Last time, I shared about Rob who discovered that his sin was how poorly he treated his employees. As that reality sunk in, Rob was deeply grieved over the people he had harmed.
He realized that not only had he sinned against his employees, but he had also sinned against God. His sorrow led to him humbly reconciling with God.
2 Corinthians 7:10 teaches, “For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.”
The second stage of repentance is humble sorrow and remorse.
Questions For Reflection
- What does remorse look like? What does a remorseful person act like? Does someone expressing remorse help you forgive them when they wrong you? Does allowing yourself to feel remorse help you to change your ways?
- How does humility play into remorse? Would you believe that someone is remorseful if they aren’t humble about it? How would you cultivate humility? What is the link between humility and honesty?
