Becoming Like Jesus: Silence and Solitudeಮಾದರಿ

The Goodness of God
Pray…
Heavenly Father, here I am. Teach me more about who you are today. Jesus, make me more like you in these moments. Holy Spirit, please open my eyes to what you want me to see and help me to hear your voice. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Read…
You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. Psalm 119:68 NIV
Consider…
Goodness doesn’t just describe what God does—it describes who He is. His very character and nature is defined by goodness. Through and through, God is good. The New Testament paints the picture of God’s absolute goodness by saying, “God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). There’s no hidden part of God that is malicious, evil, or corruptible. He is good and He does good every moment of every day.
In your own words, what does it mean for something to be incorruptibly good?
Why is it significant that God both is good AND does what is good?
How might He be inviting you to trust Him and His goodness more deeply today?
Listen…
Set a timer for 5-10 minutes.
Lead into your listening by praying Psalm 46:10 over yourself. “Be still and know that I am God.” Still yourself. Take some deep breaths. Keep repeating those words, dropping off one phrase at a time, until you are just reminding yourself to “Be.”
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I AM.
Be still and know.
Be still.
Be.
Ask God to speak to you.
When you get distracted, come back to Jesus by repeating the fact that God is good and He does good. Say it over and over until it lands solidly in your heart and you can recall it throughout the day.
