Test of Faith
Faith is not just a gift; faith is also a test. Everyone is given a measure of faith (Romans 12:3) , but everyone's faith is tested. In fact, faith only works when it is tested.
One of the most powerful stories of faith is when Abraham was tested by God to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. In the end, it turned out that God never really wanted Abraham to sacrifice his son. When the time came to sacrifice his son, God stopped him, and instead He provided a sacrifice for Abraham. God provided the sacrifice, but Abraham had to provide the faith.
God doesn’t want your sacrifice; God wants your faith.
Sacrifice is God's part; faith is your part.
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I keep my eyes fixed on the cross where you sacrificed yourself for me. I walk by faith knowing that in the end it will be provided to me, as your word says - The Lord will provide. I pray this in your name, Jesus, amen.
