 <div class="label">1</div><div class="s1">The Promised Land</div><div class="p"> 1Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, 2Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. 4From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. 5There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. 8This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.</div><div class="p"> 10Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.</div><div class="p"> 12And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying, 13Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land. 14Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them; 15until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD's servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising. 16And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go. 17According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses. 18Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.</div>

 <div class="label">8</div><div class="s2">Wisdom and Folly</div><div class="q1"> 1Doth not wisdom cry?</div><div class="q2">And understanding put forth her voice?</div><div class="q1"> 2She standeth in the top of high places, by the way</div><div class="q2">In the places of the paths.</div><div class="q1"> 3She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city,</div><div class="q2">At the coming in at the doors.</div><div class="q1"> 4Unto you, O men, I call;</div><div class="q2">And my voice is to the sons of man.</div><div class="q1"> 5O ye simple, understand wisdom:</div><div class="q2">And, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.</div><div class="q1"> 6Hear; for I will speak of excellent things;</div><div class="q2">And the opening of my lips shall be right things.</div><div class="q1"> 7For my mouth shall speak truth;</div><div class="q2">And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.</div><div class="q1"> 8All the words of my mouth are in righteousness;</div><div class="q2"> There is nothing froward or perverse in them.</div><div class="q1"> 9They are all plain to him that understandeth,</div><div class="q2">And right to them that find knowledge.</div><div class="q1"> 10Receive my instruction, and not silver;</div><div class="q2">And knowledge rather than choice gold.</div><div class="q1"> 11For wisdom is better than rubies;</div><div class="q2">And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.</div><div class="q1"> 12I wisdom dwell with prudence,</div><div class="q2">And find out knowledge of witty inventions.</div><div class="q1"> 13The fear of the LORD is to hate evil:</div><div class="q1">Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way,</div><div class="q2">And the froward mouth, do I hate.</div><div class="q1"> 14Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom:</div><div class="q2">I am understanding; I have strength.</div><div class="q1"> 15By me kings reign,</div><div class="q2">And princes decree justice.</div><div class="q1"> 16By me princes rule,</div><div class="q2">And nobles, even all the judges of the earth.</div><div class="q1"> 17I love them that love me;</div><div class="q2">And those that seek me early shall find me.</div><div class="q1"> 18Riches and honour are with me;</div><div class="q2"> Yea, durable riches and righteousness.</div><div class="q1"> 19My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold;</div><div class="q2">And my revenue than choice silver.</div><div class="q1"> 20I lead in the way of righteousness,</div><div class="q2">In the midst of the paths of judgment:</div><div class="q1"> 21That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance;</div><div class="q2">And I will fill their treasures.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 22The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way,</div><div class="q2">Before his works of old.</div><div class="q1"> 23I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning,</div><div class="q2">Or ever the earth was.</div><div class="q1"> 24When there were no depths, I was brought forth;</div><div class="q2">When there were no fountains abounding with water.</div><div class="q1"> 25Before the mountains were settled,</div><div class="q2">Before the hills was I brought forth:</div><div class="q1"> 26While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields,</div><div class="q2">Nor the highest part of the dust of the world.</div><div class="q1"> 27When he prepared the heavens, I was there:</div><div class="q2">When he set a compass upon the face of the depth:</div><div class="q1"> 28When he established the clouds above:</div><div class="q2">When he strengthened the fountains of the deep:</div><div class="q1"> 29When he gave to the sea his decree,</div><div class="q2">That the waters should not pass his commandment:</div><div class="q1">When he appointed the foundations of the earth:</div><div class="q2"> 30Then I was by him, as one brought up with him:</div><div class="q1">And I was daily his delight,</div><div class="q2">Rejoicing always before him;</div><div class="q1"> 31Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth;</div><div class="q2">And my delights were with the sons of men.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 32Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children:</div><div class="q2">For blessed are they that keep my ways.</div><div class="q1"> 33Hear instruction, and be wise,</div><div class="q2">And refuse it not.</div><div class="q1"> 34Blessed is the man that heareth me,</div><div class="q2">Watching daily at my gates,</div><div class="q2">Waiting at the posts of my doors.</div><div class="q1"> 35For whoso findeth me findeth life,</div><div class="q2">And shall obtain favour of the LORD.</div><div class="q1"> 36But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul:</div><div class="q2">All they that hate me love death.</div><div class="b"></div>

 <div class="label">8</div><div class="s2">The Spirit of God Within You</div><div class="p"> 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.</div><div class="s2">Sons of God</div><div class="p"> 14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.</div><div class="s2">A Glory to be Revealed</div><div class="p"> 18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. 24For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.</div><div class="p"> 26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.</div><div class="s2">More than Conquerors</div><div class="p"> 31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. 34Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36As it is written,</div><div class="q1">For thy sake we are killed all the day long;</div><div class="q1">We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.</div><div class="m"> 37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.</div>
