Leviticus Explained Part 2 | Be Holy as I Am Holy

For millennia, God’s people have been carrying out a weekly Bible study plan. Every year, they read through the Torah from Genesis to Deuteronomy. In synagogue each week, they read and study a Bible passage—the weekly parshah. 
This plan presents a double reading, Behar-Bechukotai, from Leviticus 25:1–27:34. Behar means “On the Mount,” and Bechukotai means “By My Decrees.”

On the Mount/By My Decree

For millennia, God’s people have been carrying out a weekly Bible study plan. Every year, they read through the Torah from Genesis to Deuteronomy. In synagogue each week, they read and study a Bible passage—the weekly parshah. This parshah is called “Shemini,” which is Hebrew for “Eighth,” and covers Leviticus 9:1–11:47.

In synagogue each week, they read and study a Bible passage—the weekly parshah. This portion is a double reading, Acharei Mot-Kedoshim, from Leviticus 16:1—20:27. Acharei Mot means “after the death,” and Kedoshim means “holy ones.”
