Attacks on marriage come from all directions. They’ll weaken a relationship, leaving couples conflicted and emotionally detached. One of the most famous sections in the Bible can be found in Exodus 20, often called the Ten Commandments. The Bible does not call them ’the Ten Commandments,’ but ‘The Ten Words.’ These ‘Ten Words’ or instructions God gave form the basis for making right choices, the foundation on which to make good practical, moral, and ethical decisions, personally and for your family, business and society.

Chapter 5 is the centre point of Matthew’s presentation of the sayings of Jesus, particularly as it relates to the Law. I hope you are as taken by the words and authority of Jesus as I have been. This is nothing less than our manifesto – kingdom behaviour, ethics, and call, all in these verses. What Jesus says is pure genius. How Matthew puts it together is inspiring.

The words of the Bible help keep us on the right path with God.
