Essentials for the New Year

DAY 3 OF 7

Stop the Circular Movement

The first non-negotiable essential is to stop going around in circles. God had to tell the children of Israel, "You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north," which means to start moving with a direction. Circular movement is busyness without productivity. It is having longevity without impact, living life without a definite purpose or direction, and being tired from work all year, without being able to identify meaningful progress or point to what you have saved.

You know you are moving in a circular pattern when you observe repeated patterns in your life. If you cannot defeat the challenges you faced three years ago, you are not making progress. If you could not pay a debt two years ago, and you still cannot pay a debt of the same figure now, there is no progress in that life. The secret to moving forward is being honest with ourselves and taking personal responsibility, rather than blaming generational problems or the devil.

Your progress is determined by the obstacles you surmount. You must be able to say, "The things I used to do, I do them no more." If you become comfortable with stagnation, you will always blame others for your lack of progress. The new year demands a directional change, not just a calendar change.

Suggested Action

Identify one specific repeated pattern (e.g., financial debt, anger, procrastination) that has cycled in your life for more than a year, and develop a clear, intentional plan to break that pattern.
