What the Bible Says About Advent - 29 Days of Advent Meditationsნიმუში

Day 2: Hope in the Prophecy of a Savior
- Verses:
- Isaiah 7:14: "The Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."
- Isaiah 9:6–7: "For to us a child is born... And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
- Micah 5:2: "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah... out of you will come... one who will be ruler over Israel."
- Matthew 1:22–23: "All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet."
- John 1:14: "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us."
- Reflection:
Through the prophets, God painted a vivid picture of a coming Savior, igniting hope in a world shrouded in darkness. These ancient words, fulfilled in Jesus, reveal a God who keeps His promises with precision. From Bethlehem’s manger to the cross, Jesus embodies Immanuel—God with us. This hope isn’t just historical; it’s personal, inviting us to trust that the same God who fulfilled His word then will do so again. Advent calls us to cling to this hope, knowing Jesus is our promised Savior.
- Application:
- Consider how the fulfilled prophecies of Jesus’ birth strengthen your trust in God’s future promises.
- Choose one prophecy from today’s verses and meditate on its fulfillment in Christ.
- How does this deepen your hope?
- Today, share this hope with someone struggling, perhaps through a conversation or a written note, pointing them to Jesus as Immanuel.
- Spend time in prayer, asking God to renew your anticipation for His presence in your daily life.
- Prayer:
God, thank You for fulfilling Your promises in Jesus. Help me hold fast to the hope of His coming. In Jesus' name. Amen.
About this Plan

These 29 daily devotionals, created by Dr. Walt Larimore, are structured around the four traditional pre-Christmas Advent candles—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love and one final devotion for the penultimate Christ candle. Each of the first four weeks focuses on one candle, with seven daily devotions exploring a specific aspect of that theme through Bible verses, a reflection, and a prayer prompt—then, of course, the final Christmas Eve or Christmas Day devotion. All Bible verses are quoted from the NIV, 2011.
