DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2: A Scar That Testifies

"Do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen, help, and uphold you with My victorious right hand." -Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

"Sweetheart, you have a spot on your face. You should see a dermatologist," my mother told me with concern. She has always been attentive to my appearance, sometimes even more so. Although I struggled with her comments, this time, I listened.

I went to the dermatologist without imagining what was coming. They performed a biopsy, and soon after, I received the news I never expected: skin cancer. The word cancer hit me like a brick wall. I felt distraught; I left that appointment alone, in tears and with great sadness.

I blamed myself for not protecting my face enough from the sun. I couldn't help but feel ashamed—I kept thinking If only I had taken better care of myself. I felt scared, fragile, and, honestly, a little broken. But in that dark place, I held on tightly to God. I prayed from the deepest part of my heart: "Lord, please heal me. I do not want this cancer to spread. I want to live to tell others how good You've been."

After the surgery, I was left with a scar on my face. At first, it made me feel insecure. But over time, God began to change how I saw it. He reminded me—this isn't a sign of defeat. It's a reminder of His faithfulness. A scar that testifies.

Every time I see it, I remember that God sustained me. It's a scar of testimony. And yes, some still ask me about it, and I joyfully answer, "God healed me. This scar reminds me that He was with me."

Dear Mama, God is with you no matter the size of your battle. What today seems like a wound, tomorrow can be a symbol that testifies to the love of a God who never leaves you.

Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the powerful reminder today that You are with us in every battle, no matter its size. Thank You for turning our wounds into symbols of Your faithfulness and love. Help us to see the "scars" in our lives, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, not as marks of defeat, but as testimonies to Your sustaining presence. Give us the courage to share our stories, knowing that our vulnerability can bring hope to others. May we always remember that You heal, You sustain, and You are always near. In Jesus' name, Amen.
