The Fight to Find Yourselfნიმუში

Day 1: False Identities
Scripture: Romans 8:16 (KJV): “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”
Devotional:
Do you ever feel like the “real you” is concealed by the disguise you wear every day? You don’t have to live like this anymore. You don’t have to pretend to be someone else. You can be the real you — unapologetically — no disguise necessary.
You have permission to begin right where you are, right now, no matter how your identity was lost in the first place. Maybe there are things dammed up behind a wall you’ve built, things you can’t talk about. Maybe you keep doing things you don’t want to do, and you’re not sure why. If I asked you right now, “Who are you?” how would you respond?
Paul’s words in Romans remind us that our spirit already carries the answer. God’s Spirit joins with ours to confirm who we truly are — His children. This truth cuts through the noise, the disguises, and the confusion. At the deepest level, your identity isn’t something you earn, create, or fake. It’s something you receive. You are God’s child. That is the real you.
Reflection Question:
What disguises or false identities have you been hiding behind, and how does knowing you are God’s child begin to change the way you see yourself?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for calling me Your child. Help me to let go of the disguises I’ve worn and step into the freedom of being who You created me to be. Give me the courage to believe that I am already loved and already enough.
