One House : 1 Peterნიმუში

Chosen by God
I, Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
1 Peter 1:1–2 ESV
The apostle Peter opens his letter to the churches in Asia Minor by reminding them of the blessings they've received as the people of God. Firstly, they are ‘exiles of the dispersion’—exiles not in a political sense but a spiritual one. While they may live in a Roman colony, their true home is the eternal kingdom of Christ. Rather than being a source of discouragement, this is a hopeful reminder of the life to come.
Secondly, they are God's 'elect', according to the foreknowledge of God the Father. These Christian churches, though scattered throughout the empire, have been appointed by God to be exactly where they are. In fact, they are God's chosen people, an idea that Peter will flesh out later in chapter 2.
Lastly, they are the recipients of great spiritual blessings. The Spirit is at work in them, making them like Christ, and when they fall short, the blood of Christ is continually cleansing their sin. The same is true of all Christians today. In the face of any circumstance, we can take comfort in the fact that we have been chosen, given a new citizenship, and will continually receive all we need to live Godly lives. These truths act as the anchor for all that's to come in Peter's first letter.
