Jesus: The True Light of the Worldნიმუში

The second phrase of John 1:9 tells us what this Light has done.
2. “There was the true Light which, coming into the world …”(John 1:9b, NASB95)
The word "world" in the Gospel of John and in his other writings refers to the worldly sphere of human existence—especially for the human race, which is in darkness, both externally and internally.
The word "true" has a fuller meaning. This is not just a true light, but the true Light, the only true Light. It is also the full Light. Everything else has been partial light. Everything else has been pointing to this Light.
In the previous verses, the apostle John tells us that John the Baptist had to emphasize that he was not that Light. He simply bore witness to the Light. And you, today, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus, get to play the role that John did, bearing witness to the Light.
But this true Light, who came into the world, is not only the eternally generated light, but also the fully transmitted light—the transmission line from heaven to earth, from eternity into time, from infinity into space.
There was an actual coming into this world—a personal coming. HE is the full Light. The word "true" means this is not only true, but full. It’s not a fractional light; it’s not an artificial light; it’s not a superficial light. It is a humanly authenticated light.
Jesus, the true Light, came into the world. He didn’t stay far away, giving descriptions and prescriptions for humanity in darkness. He came right into the human situation.
