Finding the Words

DAY 21 OF 30

Dear God,

We marvel at Your trinitarian identity. You are eternally and distinctly three (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and yet one. This is truly a mystery too lofty for us to fully grasp or understand. You are simply greater than we are, and Your ways are beyond our complete understanding. We praise You today for who You really are - who You have revealed Yourself to be in history.

And as Trinity, we know that You are a relational God. You had perfect fellowship in Yourself, so You did not need to create anyone or anything else to demonstrate Your attributes. But, in Your grace, You have created us in Your image. As we reflect on our lives, though, we are reminded that though we are created with relational qualities, they cannot be fulfilled by ourselves. We need to relate to others: to relate to You, the God who created us, and to others, created in Your image, among whom we live. We simply cannot be all You have created us to be alone.

We thank You that we can relate to You together as a church family. May we:

  • Love one another as Christ has loved us.
  • Encourage one another when we struggle.
  • Help one another up when we fall.
  • Celebrate with one another the joys of life.
  • Mourn with one another the losses we endure.
  • Challenge one another when we have lost our way.

But most importantly, may we point one another to You - our creator God, so that we honor You with our thoughts, words, and deeds - together as a church family.

We pray these things to the honor of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit - AMEN

About this Plan

Finding the Words

Ask many Christians about their prayer life, and they will admit their struggle to find the words to pray. For thousands of years, liturgies have helped believers articulate words in their communication with God. This collection of 30 prayers (and the Scripture behind them) is designed to improve our prayer lives as we allow God's Word to populate our words in prayer.
