Awestruck: 30 Days of Wonder in the Bible

DAY 2 OF 30

The Bible begins with awe: In the beginning, God.

Before anything else existed, He was.

He spoke, and galaxies ignited.
He created, and oceans surged.
He reached into dust and formed humanity.
By His breath, life began.

Think about it: breath plus sound becomes voice. The very first voice to echo through creation was God's, bringing light out of darkness and order out of nothing. That same voice speaks today, and His breath still gives life.

I love that Scripture doesn't start with complicated theology or lengthy explanations. It starts with wonder. God creating. God speaking. God breathing life into what was lifeless.

Sometimes I imagine what that first moment of creation sounded like. Was God’s voice a whisper that shook the universe? A song that painted the stars? Whatever it was, God’s voice carried enough power to bring everything into existence.

When you open Scripture, you're not just reading ancient text. You're encountering the living God who offers to breathe life into the hurting places of your heart.

Bible reading is more than revisiting old stories. It's meeting with the God whose voice spoke the universe into being and who wants to speak life into you today.

Reflect:

How does remembering that God’s breath and voice gives life stir awe in you?

Tomorrow we'll explore what makes YOU more radiant than every sunset and mountain—and why it changes everything.
