Trusting God in the Unknown: A 5-Day Encouragement for Special Needs Momsნიმუში

Day 1: Unknown Space
Hello, Mamas!
Have you ever felt confused or unsure about what to expect? I certainly have; this has been a significant part of my life since having children. I'm a mother to two wonderful kids, and my oldest has a unique ability (formerly known as having special needs).
My daughter, now 9, was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder at age 5. Since fewer than 1% of the population has this condition, resources and information are limited. In her first four years, her diagnosis was delayed in gross motor skills because healthcare providers couldn’t identify the cause of her symptoms during that time. My husband and I often felt uncertain about what to expect and how to prepare for the future. I’ve cried many times, searching for answers to support my daughter.
My perspective on motherhood has changed. The many unknowns, feelings of uncertainty, and lack of control left me waiting and seeking answers...
Don’t get me wrong, I love being a mom and feel blessed that God chose me to be the mother of my girls. Still, my first year of motherhood was very different and unexpected. I kept praying through the uncertainty. All I could do was trust God!
I remember reading Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NIV): “Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
Mamas, take heart—God handpicked you to be the mother of your precious children. You weren’t chosen by chance; you were chosen with love and purpose.
Even in the hardest moments: the ones that leave you weary or uncertain, God is with you. He is your steady guide, your source of strength, and the One who gently shapes you into the woman and mother He created you to be.
You may not fully understand what that purpose looks like yet. Trust me, I’m still on the journey too, but you can be sure of this: You were specifically chosen for your children. No one else can mother them like you can.
There are moms like you and me who need community with other mothers who understand this journey well (medical appointments, surgeries, homeschooling, etc.) of raising a child with unique abilities. Building a safe, loving, and supportive community is essential for us moms and our children.
I’m reaching out today to remind you that even if we don’t understand God’s plan, He has got you, and your purpose is about to unfold. Be patient and stay faithful. Equip yourself with God's Word. He will reveal what you need in His perfect timing.
Remember, Mama, you are not alone, and you are loved. Praying with you and for you, warrior moms!
Blessings,
