Body of Christ

DAY 3 OF 5

Living Stones

Have you ever felt like the odd one out? Like you’re just a little bit out of place… like the folk you find yourself around just ‘aren’t your people’? Good news! There’s always a place for you in God’s house. He welcomes us with open arms and calls us His ‘living stones’…

‘As you come to him, the living Stone — rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him — you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ’ (1 Peter 2:4–5, NIV).

Just like stones that are formed through a combination of heat and pressure and shaped by conditions like location, growth and erosion, we’re called chosen and precious by God. He asks us to present ourselves, ‘warts and all’ as my grandfather would say, and trust Him to use us, in community, to build His glorious house. A house of living stones, all unique and different but brought together and held in place by the love and grace of Jesus to impact this world. Alone, we are a stone. Together we are a house.

If you’re struggling to find community today, do not lose heart, but stand on this scripture and trust that as you present yourself as a building stone, God will bring you into community and build His house with you.

About this Plan

Body of Christ

We may all look different, talk different and have different dreams, but we have all been created in the image of God. As believers, we are invited to become members of the Body of Christ, and this Bible plan gives us some ideas of how this might look as we interact with family, friends and the wider community, whilst maintaining our God given individuality.
