Thirty Psalms for Thirty Days - Discover God's Character

DAY 1 OF 30

Thirty Psalms for Thirty DaysDiscover God’s Character, is your personal description of God as revealed in the book of Psalms. For this plan, read through the corresponding psalm looking for words and phrases that describe who God is and what He does. Use the letter of the day (A – Z) to find a descriptive word beginning with that letter. Record the verse address of where you found the characteristic. For example: Forgiving - 32:1. Repeat this process for the given chapter each day. Use the notes app on your phone, a journal, or notebook to record your answers. Better yet, invite someone to do this plan with you and record the words in the Talk it Over section each day.

We used the NLT version of the Bible for this plan. Your Bible version may have similar, yet different words that begin with another letter. If that occurs, perhaps save those words for future days or add them to the notes you recorded for that specific letter before.

The Discover God method stimulates personal Bible study and is an easy tool for children, teens, and adults to begin a journey of uncovering the goodness of God for themselves. As we discover God’s character, we will see Him as all powerful and very personal… infinite, yet intimate.

For today, you will read Psalm 66. An attribute of God for the letter A is Awesome! Which verse holds that word?

A suggestion: If you would like to create a convenient reference guide for personal or group times of study, worship, and encouragement, you could use index cards or a journal. Use twenty-six ruled index cards or twenty-six pages in a journal. Write one letter of the alphabet in the top right corner of each card/page. If using cards, punch a hole in the opposite corner and bind cards together with a ring or ribbon. List what you discover about God’s character and actions on the corresponding A to Z card/page along with the scripture reference. For Example, the R card would read:

Refuge – 7:1, 11:1, 14:6
Rock - 18:2, 71:3
Restores my soul - 23:3

You can find complimentary cover pages for the A - Z study to download and print at nbs2go.com.

A tip: Using the alphabet is a simple way to teach children to discover who God is by weekly focusing on one characteristic of God represented by a letter in order from A – Z. Use the Thirty Psalms for Thirty Days, Discover God’s Character as a springboard into the whole of Scripture.

Just a reminder, for today, read Psalm 66. An attribute of God for the letter A is Awesome! Record Awesome and the verse address. Can you find any others?
