Foundation First: Building Habits That Actually Lastნიმუში

Over the past few days, we've established that Christ is the foundation upon which to build your life. Today, let's get practical about how actually to do this through daily habits.
Remember, our habits disciple us. The things you do consistently shape who you become. Like compound interest grows your savings account, your daily choices compound to create the person you'll be in five years.
Here are three essential habits for building your life on Christ:
1. Answer the Question Personally
You need to settle the question Jesus asked: "Who do you say that I am?" This isn't a question you can delegate or rely on someone else to answer for you. Your parents' faith, your spouse's faith, or your friend's faith won't suffice.
Spend time honestly wrestling with who Jesus is to you personally. Read the Gospels. Pray. Ask God to reveal Himself to you.
If you've never decided to follow Jesus, today could be that day. Tell God you recognize your need for Him and want Jesus as your Savior. Confess your sins, ask for forgiveness, and commit to follow Him. If you made that decision, use the link below to share your story!
2. Audit Your Current Habits
Each Sunday morning, my smartphone sends me a notification showing how much time I spent on my phone last week. I wish all of life could give us this kind of mirror, showing us exactly how we're spending our hours. Because how you spend your hours is how you spend your days, weeks, and ultimately your life.
Take an honest look at your current patterns using the questions from Day 4. These patterns reveal what you're actually building your life on, regardless of what you say you believe. Our habits reveal what matters most to us.
3. Put Jesus First
This might sound like a nice, churchy phrase, so let me get specific.
Put Jesus first with your mornings: The first thing you do when you wake up doesn't have to be grabbing your phone and scrolling social media. Before you expose your mind to the chaos of notifications, news, and social media, spend time with Jesus.
Put Jesus first with your money: Don't wait to see what's left at the end of the month to give something to Jesus. Give first! Trust Jesus in this area by intentionally giving generously.
Put Jesus first with your schedule: There will always be competing events and options. You must intentionally prioritize time for worship, learning about God, serving others, and building relationships with fellow believers.
Starting Today
For at least the next three weeks, commit to these three habits. Don't try to change everything at once; that's thinking in terms of intensity instead of consistency. Pick one small way to put Jesus first and do it daily.
Remember, when storms come (and they will) - what you've built your life on will be revealed. Houses built on sand collapse, but lives built on the solid rock of Christ can withstand whatever comes.
In Matthew 7:24-25 CSB, Jesus said, “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.”
Build on Christ. Remember, progress over perfection. Start today.
