Coming to Life: 30-Day Devotionalნიმუში

The Promised Land
Crossing the Jordan marked the end of Israel’s wilderness wanderings and the beginning of life in the land God had promised to Abraham centuries before. Joshua was charged with leading the people into this inheritance, and God’s words to him ring with courage and faith: “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
The Promised Land was tangible proof of God’s faithfulness. Every promise He had spoken to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses was being fulfilled. Joshua 21 declares, “Not one word of all the good promises of the Lord had failed.” The land was more than geography; it was the visible sign of God’s covenant love.
Yet, as the book of Hebrews points out, the land was not the ultimate rest. Even after entering Canaan, God’s people longed for something deeper, something permanent. Their story points us forward to the greater promise — the eternal rest found in Christ.
Jesus echoed this when He told His disciples, “I go to prepare a place for you.” Just as Joshua led Israel into the land, Jesus leads us into the Father’s house. He is the true Joshua (the name “Jesus” is the Greek form of “Yeshua,” meaning “the Lord saves”). His victory opens the way into our eternal inheritance.
The Promised Land reminds us of God’s unfailing faithfulness. He keeps His word. He brings His people home. But it also reminds us that every earthly rest points beyond itself to the greater rest in Christ. Our hope is not merely for temporary relief but for eternal dwelling with God.
As we journey through life, we hold to the same assurance given to Joshua: “The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Whether in wilderness or in promise, God’s presence is our true inheritance. One day, in Christ, we will enter the ultimate Promised Land, and every promise will be fully realized.

Faithful God, thank You that not one of Your promises ever fails. Thank You for Jesus, my true Joshua, who leads me into eternal rest.
