Day 21 — Stewarding Our Energy
Each day carries its own rhythm: moments when we are naturally more clear-minded, energized, and focused—and others when we are tired, less responsive, and therefore more easily distracted. Organizing our agendas around that natural rhythm that sustains us, is a critical element to stewarding our energy to the best of our ability.
Each of us have different energy peaks: for some it is in the early hours of the morning, for others in the evening, or perhaps during a specific window in the day. It is essential to learn how to use that time strategically to steward the vision God has planted in our heart.
This is why it is vital to use our energy as a compass: recognizing our peak moments and safeguarding them for what is truly a priority, useful, and fruitful.
Once you become aware that the time you have is not random but entrusted to you for a very specific purpose, you realize that none of your hours should be lived at the mercy of chance events. Therefore, managing your time and energy with intentionality becomes a form of worship. It is as if we are saying to God: “I deeply value the fact that today You have given me another 24 hours. And I choose to use them in the best way possible, to honor You.”
Even Jesus, with full clarity and awareness of the mission entrusted to Him by God, though constantly surrounded by requests vying for His time and attention, did not live reactively. He moved with intentionality. Mark 1:35 tells us: “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” (NIV). What a powerful lesson in how to steward our best hours - ifJesus intentionally planned His peak moments, how much more do we need to do the same in order to remain faithful to our calling?
Today, take time to analyze a typical day and identify the hours when you are most productive. Adjust your schedule so that, during those hours, you can focus on your most important priorities. Pay attention to how this change impacts your productivity and your sense of fulfillment.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the time You entrust to me each day. I pray that you guide me and grant me wisdom to manage my time and energy with intentionality, to recognize my peak moments, and to invest them in what aligns with Your will. Amen.
