10-Day Prayer Challenge

DAY 2 OF 10

Solomon had the chance to ask for anything, but he chose wisdom. Solomon’s request wasn’t flashy. It was humble. He had just become king, and instead of seeking wealth or power, he asked God for understanding, to lead well. This moved the heart of God. In fact, because his motives were pure, God not only gave him wisdom, but added the things he didn’t ask for.

Solomon teaches us that prayer is about stewardship. When God places something in your hands—a business, a ministry, a family—praying for wisdom to manage it faithfully honors Him. It acknowledges your dependence on the One who knows all things.

I’ve felt before that I was unqualified for the responsibilities God entrusted to me. Whether leading people, guiding my family, or navigating new seasons, I’ve found myself praying Solomon’s prayer often: “Lord, I don’t know how to do this—please give me wisdom.” And time and again, He has.

How different might our lives look if we stopped chasing applause and started praying for discernment?

Respond to God’s Word:
Today, ask God for wisdom in the areas you lead. Whether it's your family, your job, or your future—seek insight from the Lord, not just favor. Trust that He gives generously to those who ask.
