The Promise of Heaven by Dr. David Jeremiahნიმუში

Your Friendships Will Not Be Boring
Are you a boring person? It’s possible. Sometimes we get so caught up in our own interests and our own story that it becomes wearisome for other people to spend time with us.
But even if you’re boring now, you won’t be boring in heaven. Paul explained why in 1 Corinthians 15: “We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (verses 51–52).
Not only will our personalities be changed, but also our physical bodies. Our new, heavenly bodies will be anything but boring! They won’t malfunction or grow sick or weak. We’ll have all the energy and drive and ambition imaginable, and our bodies will never weaken or suffer fatigue.
The same is true of your friendships. They won’t end at heaven’s gates. Instead, they will flourish like never before. Scripture hints that our relationships will be redeemed, deepened, and made eternal. Jesus spoke of sitting down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom (Matthew 8:11), and Paul encouraged believers with the hope that we will be reunited “together” forever (1 Thessalonians 4:17). In Luke 16:9, Jesus even spoke of eternal dwellings where friends welcome each other.
Even better is that none of those relationships will be tainted by the corruption of sin. In heaven, everyone will be kind and honest. No one will pretend. If someone says they love you, they will really mean it—and you will feel it. Everyone will treat each other with real love, all the time. Gone will be the shallow conversations, the pretenses, and the pain of one-sided love. Instead, we’ll experience friendships transformed by God’s promise to make all things new (Revelation 21:5). We’ll know each other fully, with no hidden agendas or misunderstandings.
Imagine strolling through the golden streets of New Jerusalem with a friend, marveling at the breathtaking beauty of God’s creation. Every moment will be filled with pure joy, deep love, and wonder. No jealousy, no insecurity, no weariness—just the love of Christ!
Thank you, God, that I will not be boring, nor will my friendships, when I reach my eternal home, because You will transform me and my relationships to Your glory! Amen.

About this Plan

Nobody likes being bored. Not at work. Not at home. Not anywhere. In our go-go-go culture, it seems like there’s never a good time to be bored. Many Christians believe heaven will be boring—that all we’ll be doing forever is strumming harps, floating on clouds, and polishing streets of gold. Thankfully, that’s not true! Let’s look at seven reasons why heaven will not, and could not, be boring.
