Self-righteousness and religion can cause us to stumble spiritually! Paul was a high level Jewish spiritual leader and teacher. He performed all the proper religious duties and more. He placed his trust in his good works and his religious position, yet Paul had an awakening. May we too realize and remember that we serve God by His Spirit. We boast only in Christ Jesus and we must not put one ounce of confidence in our flesh and good works. We cannot earn favor with God by religious activities and legalism. Our obedience to Jesus Christ is not for our glory, but for His glory alone!
