The New Birth — More Than an Emotion

Many think that being born again is just an emotional moment that only takes place at the altar with tears or trembling. However, to be born again is far more than a fleeting emotion—it's a spiritual miracle where God places a new nature within us. Jesus told Nicodemus that unless one is born again, they cannot see the kingdom of God. This means that religious knowledge, church attendance, or having a role in the church is not enough. Nicodemus was a teacher in Israel, but he didn’t understand the things of the spirit because he had not been born again.

To be born again means to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit, leaving behind a life of darkness and beginning to walk in the light of Christ. It's a change in nature: what we once loved, we now hate, and what we once hated, we now love. God wants to form Christ's character within us, and that becomes possible when we surrender our lives to Him and allow His Spirit to transform us. Today is a good day to ask the Lord for a new heart, a new spirit, and to begin walking in the new life He offers, because it is necessary for you to be born again!

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of salvation and for the opportunity to be born again. I acknowledge that without You, I cannot see or enter the kingdom of God, and today I surrender my life to You that You would cleanse me and make me a new creation. I want to leave behind my old life, my sins, and everything that separates me from You. Give me a new heart that loves what You love and hates what You hate. Holy Spirit, come dwell in me and guide every step I take. Help me reflect Christ in every word and action. I give You my life and confess that I need to be born again to live in fullness. Amen.
