Love God Greatly - Secure in Christ: One Faith, One Family, One Saviorნიმუში

Week 2 / Alive By Grace
The Strongest Foundation
Read: Ephesians 2:19-22
SOAP: Ephesians 2:21-22
"In him the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit." (NET)
Into the Text
When I was a young girl, my family and I moved into a new house that had just been built. While the house looked great and felt so warm and comforting, it would only last as long as the foundation of the house was strong. Thank goodness it was as my parents are still in that house today.
In a similar way, believers today and all throughout time are part of a so-called building, the Church. The Church is all believers who have been saved through faith in Jesus. There are local churches, which are smaller gatherings of believers, and then there’s the global Church.
When Jesus ascended into heaven, He did not leave us on our own. He sent the Holy Spirit to indwell believers, and He established the church for believers to be united together, grow, love, and share the gospel throughout the world.
As Paul tells us, the foundation and cornerstone of the church is Christ Jesus. It is the strongest and most lasting foundation there is. Jesus is the one who holds all things together.
We, as believers, are part of the building material that makes up the church. We are being built up into the temple of God. This means that we have a purpose in the life of the church. God has uniquely gifted each person to be a blessing and to help one another in their faith journey.
The church is not perfect by any means. After all, it is made up of sinners who have been saved by grace, but it is also one of the best gifts we have been given and therefore worth fighting for.
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for being the foundation of the church and providing me with a body of believers to encourage me and support me in my walk with you. Amen.
