02 - LORD'S PRAYER - Jesus Taught Us How to Pray

DAY 11 OF 11

Reflections on the Lord’s Prayer

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth". - John 4.23,24 NIV

João 4:23,24

The Lord’s Prayer is more than words—it is a guide to the heart, a path to connect with God, and a way to live faithfully.

Jesus teaches that prayer is both sacred and everyday: it honors God’s glory and addresses our daily needs. It calls us to approach Him with sincerity, laying aside masks and pretenses; humility, recognizing our dependence on our Creator; and intimacy, entering the secret place of our souls to pour out our hearts.

Prayer also demands clarity—direct, honest words; faith—trusting God even before answers appear; and discernment—aligning our petitions with His truth and purpose. We must avoid hypocrisy, empty repetition, or self-promotion, seeking instead a relationship with God that is real and wholehearted.

Ultimately, Jesus calls us to pray in Spirit and in truth (John 4:23–24). Prayer is not about ritual or location, but about engaging heart, mind, and soul with God, trusting Him, and letting His will guide our lives. Through such prayer, we connect deeply with our Father, find strength for our journey, and live in harmony with His Kingdom.

About this Plan

02 - LORD'S PRAYER - Jesus Taught Us How to Pray

My dear friends, in the Sermon on the Mount—the longest recorded discourse of Jesus Christ in the Gospels—we find the prayer known as the “Our Father” or the “Lord’s Prayer.” Before teaching His disciples this prayer, Jesus first taught them how to pray. That is the focus of this series of reflections: what the right posture is when we approach God in prayer. Not the physical posture—whether kneeling, standing, sitting, or lying down—but the posture of the heart!
