Video Primer - Acts 13-28
Don’t skip this video! The second half of Acts is a fast-moving, powerful story of how the gospel spreads beyond Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. The Bible Project overview will help you see the big picture—how Paul’s missionary journeys, trials, and bold preaching all fit into God’s plan. As you read through Acts 13–28, let this video guide your understanding and stir your heart for the mission of Jesus that’s still unfolding today. Take five minutes—you’ll read with new eyes and a deeper purpose.
Promise and Proclamation
Today’s readings hold together a powerful thread: the promise of redemption and the unfolding of that promise through Jesus.
In Isaiah 25, the prophet speaks hope into a hard future. Though exile and judgment are coming, God gives His people a vision of what’s ahead:
“He will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces;
He will remove His people’s disgrace from all the earth.” (Isaiah 25:8, NIV)
This is no vague optimism—it’s a firm declaration. “The LORD has spoken.”
In Acts 13, we begin to see this promise in motion. Paul stands up and boldly retells Israel’s story—a story of calling, rebellion, and ultimately, redemption through Jesus. Though He was rejected, Jesus is risen, and now forgiveness is offered to all who believe.
As we continue through Acts, watch how the risen Jesus works through the early church by His Spirit. The mission is clear: proclaim the good news, reconcile the lost, and invite all people into the story of salvation.
Take heart—this isn’t just history. This is your story, too. God still chooses to work through His people. As you read today, ask yourself: What part am I called to play in God’s redemptive plan? Let the hope of Isaiah and the movement of Acts renew your confidence in the work Jesus is doing through you—today.

About this Plan

In this 17th installment of Reading with the People of God, we continue following a lectionary rhythm—Old Testament, New Testament, and Psalms. This plan explores the prophetic voices of Micah, Habakkuk, and Isaiah, who confronted kings and warned of coming judgment while pointing to the hope of the Messiah. Alongside these, we'll read from the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, tracing the life of Christ and the birth of the Church. As we read these powerful passages in parallel, may the Spirit shape us and grow us in Christ together.
