Joining the Eternal Conversation
Home isn’t just a physical space—it’s where we feel known, loved, and secure. In John 15:9, Jesus invites us into a love that predates creation itself: the eternal love shared between the Father, Son, and Spirit. This love isn’t a distant idea or an occasional visit—it’s a place to dwell.
Before anything existed, there was a household of perfect love. Father, Son, and Spirit existed in joyful communion. And now, we are invited into that very love, not as outsiders, but as family. Jesus says, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.” That means the same love the Father has for the Son is now offered to us.
Too often, we treat God’s love like a vacation home—something we visit in crisis or when we need spiritual refreshment. But Jesus calls us to remain. Visitors stay polite and distant; family members belong. They bring their whole selves. In the Trinity’s household, we are welcomed, called friends and co-heirs, and made into God’s dwelling place through the Spirit.
As we remain in this love, we begin to learn the rhythms of the Trinity: mutual delight, patient listening, generous giving, and gentle guidance. These divine patterns shape how we love others. We are not only transformed ourselves—we become safe places where others can encounter the love of God.
Prayer
God, thank You for inviting me into Your eternal love. Help me remain in it daily—not as a visitor, but as a child at home in You.
Reflection Questions
1. Defining Home: What does making yourself at home mean to you?
2. Discovering Your True Home: How would it feel to make God’s love your true home, not just a place you visit?
