Self-Care

DAY 7 OF 7

DAY 7: A Life of Intention

Today, I live a life of intention.

My self-care goes beyond conducting normal activities and errands.

My self-care is a continuum.

It looks like: turning my ringer off, receiving no notifications on my phone, ending my workday at 5 p.m., worshipping weekly, cooking fresh meals, working out daily, unplugging from social media, taking long peaceful walks, sitting quietly near bodies of water, eliminating poisons like sugar and alcohol from my diet, reading for 30 minutes to an hour before going to bed, digging into sermons, podcasts, prayer and devotionals, marking out a few days of the months to fast, checking in with my therapist, journaling weekly, saying no and declining opportunities when I really want to be unbothered, and of course - all the fun things like spa days, brunch with friends, sporting events, and a vacay every once in a while.

The intention of self-care is not just about physical wellness; it’s also about our emotional and spiritual health.

Practicing self-care can take many forms, from seeking therapy to engaging in creative outlets or spending time in nature.

Acts of care help us honor our holistic selves.

This isn’t a checklist or a series of random events. It is an intentional lifestyle - one of health and holiness.

As we conclude this devotional journey, remember that self-care is a process of nurturing your soul, body, mind, and spirit.

It’s an act of stewardship over the life God has entrusted to you.

Do not neglect what God has given you.

Take time to reflect on what you’ve learned in this devotional and commit to intentional self-care practices that honor your well-being.

Answer these questions and reflect on your answers:

  1. What intentional acts of care can you incorporate into your daily routine?
  2. How can you be more aware of your emotional and spiritual needs?
  3. In what ways can you share your self-care journey with others to inspire them?

Affirm and declare these statements:

  • I surrender my worries and trust God's faithfulness to provide for my needs.
  • I nourish my body with wholesome care, for it is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
  • I will pursue joy and fulfillment in every area of my life.

Pray in petition to God to pursue His will and way.

About this Plan

Self-Care

Self-care. How necessary is it? In our fast-paced world, self-care has become more than a trend; it’s a necessity. Especially after the challenges of the global pandemic, many of us are reevaluating how we care for ourselves. Self-care is not just about taking breaks or pampering ourselves; it’s about recognizing our whole selves—mind, body, and spirit—and giving each part the attention it deserves. In this devotional, let’s explore what self-care means through a biblical lens and how we can intentionally nurture ourselves.
