Change My Mind - Standing With Jesus in a Confusing Worldნიმუში

What do you need distance from?
Even when you’re doing all the right things—reading your Bible, attending church, praying—there might still be things in your life that are dragging you down spiritually. They’re the extra "calories" that are unhealthy for your soul.
Are you spending more time on TikTok than in prayer or the Word?
Have your senses become dull to things that offend God?
Are the shows, songs, or social media accounts you consume shaping your worldview more than Scripture?
These influences may seem small, but they can prep your life to be taken over by the world’s culture, just like the Israelites when they allowed opposing influences to creep into their hearts.
It’s All of It
Here’s the truth: I don’t need to pull up a list of things you should stop watching or listening to because, compared to God’s standard, almost everything in culture is opposed to Him. From the values glorified in music to the ideologies in movies, it’s a constant tide pulling you away from God.
But here’s the good news: You don’t have to face this alone. It’s simply about bringing it before God and asking Him:
"What do You want me to do with this?"
Taking Drastic Steps
It won’t be easy. The world might look at you funny. Your friends might question your decisions.
There’s a cost involved in saying no to the world’s culture. Ezra 10 shows us how the Israelites had to take extreme measures to purge what was harmful to their faith. Even their families and children were involved—it was painful, but necessary for the health of their souls and their relationship with God.
For us, the sacrifices might look like:
Missing out on the latest album or Netflix series.
Saying no to conversations that glorify what’s impure or unhealthy.
Deleting apps or unfollowing accounts that are pulling you in the wrong direction.
It’s worth it. The health of your soul matters more than the momentary entertainment or approval of others.
Shining Bright
To be a light in the darkness, you need to shine brightly. You can’t stand firm in your faith while letting the culture of the world dim your flame. Jesus calls us to be set apart.
Time for Action
So let’s be bold and strong—like a level 3 fitness freak, fully committed to cutting out what’s holding us back. As you spend time with God, ask Him:
“What do I need to give up?”
“What is bad for me?”
You’re not alone in this. Look around—this is your community, your family. We’re all making the same commitment to stand firm together.
Let’s shine bright and bring light to the world around us. It’s time to cut out the extras and live fully for Jesus!
