Who Is Jesus? 7 Days in the 'I Am' Statementsნიმუში

Read John 15:1: Jesus said, ‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.'
Jesus says this to his friends on the night before He dies. It might sound odd to us, but they would have known that in other parts of the Bible, the vine and its fruit are a picture of God’s people, a people who would bring Him glory and draw others in.
By Jesus’ time, things had gone so wrong that God’s people had ended up in exile. So when Jesus says that He is the true vine, He’s saying that He is the one who fulfils all the promises that God’s people in the Old Testament couldn’t...and that means that all who come to Him can be included.
If we believe and trust in Jesus, we become united to Him and part of His people, His vine. It’s a huge change; in fact, it turns our lives upside down. We can be part of the flourishing, fruitful plan of God. Isn’t it amazing that people like us would be offered something like this?
