Love breeds unity
What are the virtues that Paul is talking about? It starts with verse 12. We’re called to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and forgiveness. Then for love to seep through the gaps and bind it all together.
Yet before all that, verse 12 starts with a ‘therefore’. ‘Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved…’ With our identity secure in Him, we are called to a higher standard for everything in our lives, as imitators of Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of our faith. This includes our interactions with each other.
Too often it’s easy to see the world solely through our eyes, but God calls us to two main commandments: love God and love others. It’s the overflow from the first that enables the second.
Today, when (not if, but when) we encounter a moment where we could either be right or kind, let’s collectively choose kind. Let’s shower those around us with the love of God – the love that speaks the loudest when we’re quiet and waiting to hear His voice.
Be filled with Him, so we can overflow to others.

About this Plan

Unity is defined as: the state of being united or joined as a whole. God’s desire for your life is to be united with firstly Him, and secondly, other believers. While we are all created differently, we are all created in His image, and He is calling us to join together to do His work here on earth. Will you unite with God and your fellow believers today?
