God Goes Before You

Scripture:

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 NIV

Reflection:

Imagine a small kid on the school playground, cornered by a group of bullies. He’s scared, unsure what to do — until his older brother shows up.He’s taller, stronger, and everyone knows it.

The bullies back off immediately.

Why?

Because the little kid isn’t standing alone anymore. Someone bigger is standing with him. That’s what it’s like when we realize God is with us.

There are moments in life where fear, anxiety, or pressure crowd in like bullies on the playground. We feel small, powerless, and overwhelmed. But when we call on God, we’re not facing those battles alone. He steps in with strength we don’t have.

He doesn’t always remove the challenge, but He reminds us: “I’m here. I’m bigger. And I’ve got you.”

Journaling Prompt:

Have you allowed fear to bully you? Imagine that you’re sitting next to Jesus, your big brother. Tell Him about your feelings then listen to what He says and write it down.

Prayer:

Lord, when I feel scared, remind me that You are with me. Give me courage. Amen.

Practical Tip:

When you feel anxious, imagine fear is a young bully on the playground and see your big brother, Jesus stepping on the scene. See the little bully run away in terror.
