Devotional 3: When the War is Raging, You Keep on Praying

So Jesus said to them, “...for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17:20 NKJV

The longer I live, the more I understand that all of us are either currently in a spiritual battle or we will be... and I don’t know about you, but when I’m facing a battle, I want Jesus fighting for me, but I also want my praying mama in my corner.

The best moms are prayer powerhouses. When they are in the thick of it, they don’t say things like: I’ve done everything I can, now all I can do is pray. They know praying is not a last-ditch effort, but is the very thing that can turn the whole ship around. In some of my darkest days, I have learned that I have a mother with the faith of many mustard seeds. And I also have a Savior who says: Peace. Be still!

There will be days when the possible seems impossible, but Jesus says the reverse is true. If we have faith the size of a mustard seed, we can move mountains. May we take Him at His word and be about His business this week, asking for mountains to move in Jesus’ name!

Reflective Questions:

• Just as Jesus multiplied the bread and fish to feed a crowd of 5,000, the Lord can take a tiny seed of your faith and grow it into something magnificent. What can you do this week to show Him that you trust Him?
• Can you testify to another person this week of a mountain you have seen move? How about one that, in faith, you believe will be moved?

Prayer: Lord, thank you for praying women, the fiercest superheroes on this earth, who partner with You to fight the good fights and send the devil back to hell running. Please help me grow mightier in this area and give me the discipline and desire to pray more intentionally. I want to breathe You in and exhale my prayers out, knowing You hear and answer the cries of our hearts. Thank you, Jesus, that You assure us You will multiply the tiniest seeds of faith, and turn our prayers into mountain-moving miracles. Amen!
