Risen: Readings for Easterნიმუში

Sin is like death.
It oppresses. It weighs us down. It prevents us from living the life we were intended by God to live.
Sin kills.
But fortunately, we serve the Resurrected Jesus. There is no death so deep, so cold, so oppressive that it puts us out of the reach of the resurrection.
No, Jesus exists outside that system. Which means we do, too.
We used to be beholden to sin, we used to be addicted to all that is selfish and death-dealing, but now we don’t have to live that way. Instead, we can live free in the power of Christ’s resurrection.
This is everything. Miss this and you miss the power of the gospel story.
Jesus is risen! Death could not hold Him! It tried with all its might and IT FAILED! Death tried to keep Jesus down, but Jesus shrugged it off and rose from the grave. End of story.
And that same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us. Let’s live like it!
