Journeying to Easter - Part 2ნიმუში

Saved to contradict
From the moment the angel visited Mary (or from the very beginning of time really!) Jesus’ mission was to contradict, clash, stand out: His mother was a virgin and not yet married, therefore inviting shame and judgement.
His birth wasn’t in a nursery, but in a barn. He became the world’s most famous Rabbi, yet His disciples were not learned, religious men.
He is the King, yet He dined with society’s outcasts and He served them. He is sinless, pure, perfect – yet He was beaten and nailed to a cross, left to die; a death intended for criminals.
From a human perspective, Jesus had every right to be angry, hateful and condemning, yet instead we are offered mercy, love, healing, redemption and eternal life! Doesn’t that make you want to cry!
This passage in Luke gives us instructions for when someone hurts or mistreats us, and they too are contradictory! Bless those who persecute you, do good to those who hate you, love your enemies. We have the most wonderful example of this and, as we approach Easter, let’s really learn from Jesus. He gave His life for us and He has saved us in order to pass that love on to others.

About this Plan

“In these next days and weeks leading up to Easter, we’ll explore different scriptures. Each verse a thread in the tapestry of God’s great big redemption story – all culminating in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In this Easter season, let’s slow down and create a regular rhythm of remembrance together.” (Lent – Lucy Weil)
