Lessons From the Book of Jobნიმუში

Main dil mein aata hu, samajh mein nahi
Salaam!
Do you ever feel like you just don’t understand God? You’re not the only one! This week, I’d like to take you on a journey through the confusing yet beautiful book of Job.
The book's theme is suffering and the quest for understanding in the face of life’s trials. This resonates with me because when my son suffered a brain injury, it brought a pain so deep that, like Job, at times, I wished I had never been born (Job chapter 3). Faced with despair, I found the Book of Job challenging and comforting. I’d love to share some insights with you over the coming days.
The book of Job starts with a perplexing account of Satan asking God to let him torment Job (Job 1:6-12). As readers, we know the reason for his suffering but Job, on the other hand, has no clue what’s going on.
In our moments of hardship, it is important to remember that we don’t know the conversations that take place in heaven. We don’t understand why God allows suffering but note that Job, at the end of the book, says:
“Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know” (Job 42:3).
Vo dil mein aata hai, samajh mein nahi!
The fact is that our mortal minds can never comprehend an immortal God.
Our assignment is not to understand but to trust!
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight” - Proverbs 3:5-6
Believe that God is good even though His ways are, at times, past the power of human comprehension!
Take some time today to reflect on things you don’t understand but end with this prayer:
"Heavenly Father, like Job, I accept that there are things too wonderful for me to understand, but I trust in You with all my heart and will not lean on my own understanding. In Jesus' Name. Amen"
