A Year in Luke/Actsნიმუში

The first passage on Sabbath brings in food. The Pharisees are upset because Jesus’ disciples were plucking and eating grain. This was because it was unlawful to reap on Sabbath. It shows the state of the Law and the pettiness with which the Pharisees operated. Imagine living under a system where anything you might do could be interpreted as breaking the law or making you unclean and therefore shunned.
Jesus responds to the question by reminding the Pharisees of David taking the “bread of the Presence” and giving it to his companions. In this, Jesus is not only identifying with David and the royal line, but there are forward echoes towards Him becoming the Bread of the Presence of God in communion. He explicitly declares that: “The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”
