The Call to Generate Spiritual Childrenნიმუში

The story of Onan teaches us about the danger of spiritual selfishness. He had the opportunity to fulfill a sacred duty by raising up offspring for his deceased brother, but he chose to satisfy himself without taking responsibility. This selfish attitude led to severe consequences for him.
As Christians, we can fall into the same trap if we seek only our own spiritual growth without concern for helping others grow in faith. Attending church services, studying the Bible, and having a devotional life are extremely important, but if our Christian life doesn’t extend beyond our own issues, our spirituality becomes centered solely on our own edification, and we miss out on a large part of our faith's purpose.
Jesus calls us to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth, as stated in Matthew 5:14-16. Our faith should be visible and impactful, positively influencing those around us. Being light and salt means actively sharing our faith, serving others, and making disciples. We should not hide our light but let it shine before others, so they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven.
On this third day of the devotional, reflect on how you can avoid spiritual selfishness. Ask God to show you ways to share your faith and disciple others. May we follow Jesus' example and be intentional in our mission to make disciples and bear spiritual fruit for the glory of God.

About this Plan

Onan sought pleasure without generating children for his brother, disobeying God. Jesus, our elder brother, calls us to generate spiritual children, not just for our personal satisfaction. This five-day devotional will guide you to reflect on how to fulfill this call with faithfulness.
