The Faith Code: 14 Day Devotionalნიმუში

The Irresistible Attitude
Joy and gratitude are attitudes that keep us young at heart, reveling in the blessings of the present, appreciating the lessons of the past, and anticipating a better future. And the use of the word attitudes here is intentional. Yes, love, joy, gratitude and the like are emotions, but emotions come and go. Attitudes are things that we choose whether we feel them or not.
The Bible tells us multiple times that Jesus was moved by compassion to respond to people who needed Him, but He still loved them when emotion didn’t move Him. He was typically joyful and grateful because He chose to be. Like little children who easily accept others and join together in play, God wants us to cultivate an attitude that is tender and loving. This ability to see and experience things freshly—a capacity to see the world with “big eyes” is part of what fills life with wonder. The irresistible attitude makes for a wonder-filled life.
Prayer:
Jesus, help us to see the world with “big eyes”—to be ever in awe of the life You have laid out for us and to not let emotion move us away from Your will. Remind us again to be intentional with how we respond to situations and foster in us an attitude of gratitude.
