Holy Monday - Clearing the Temple
On the Monday of Holy Week, Jesus cleared the temple of its buyers and sellers. Rather than protecting the temple as a house of prayer for all nations, they had made it into a house of trade. So, Jesus cleared the temple as a symbolic act of the judgment that would be visited upon the corrupted temple system, making way for the new temple that would be centered around him—his church! His cursing of the fig tree (a symbol for the temple) is another prophetic depiction of this event.
