Jonathan and David, a Very Special Friendshipნიმუში

David trusted God
“Then David said to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand.’” (1 Samuel 17:45-46)
Once again there was war between the Israelites and the Philistines. Both armies faced each other, but there was no actual battle. The Philistines pushed their strongest man forward for a duel. His name was Goliath and he was huge and strong. None of the Israelites dared to go up against him. For forty days they sat anxiously on their hill waiting.
When David came into the army and saw with his own eyes what was happening, he wondered indignantly, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” David was determined to defeat Goliath to end his mockery. He got permission from King Saul, though not wholeheartedly. No one could imagine that David could win this battle, “for he was but a youth.” However, David did not rely on his own strength or weapons, but went into battle “in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel.'" He trusted that God would deliver him. And David's faith was not disappointed. A pebble from David's sling struck Goliath's forehead and the giant crashed to the ground mortally wounded.
What do you think of David's attitude and actions? What does this story show about his character?
