A Very Special Child, Isaiah's Prophecy About the Lord Jesusნიმუში

A special name for a special Child (1)
“And His name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor…” (Isaiah 9:6)
When a baby is born, the parents choose a name they like or that has special meaning to them. Isaiah lists a number of names for the Child whose birth he announced. Apparently, this Child is so special that one name is not sufficient to describe Him.
First, Isaiah calls Him “Wonderful Counselor." So, the Child has the ability to give good counsel, and He does so in a “wonderful” way. This word hints at things that are naturally impossible and incomprehensible for mere humans. The Child thus possesses extraordinary or even divine wisdom.
In chapter 28:29, Isaiah uses similar words to describe “the Lord of hosts” when he says, “He is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom”. So, the Child that is born, is referred to with words that are also applied to God Himself.
When we are in spiritual darkness, we badly need good counsel. We can ask wise people we trust, but it’s always best to ask God! He wants to guide us on the right path. His wisdom is infinite, and He will never deceive us.
Do you need good counsel? Where do you search for it?
About this Plan

The Bible tells a lot about the Lord Jesus. There are four Bible books devoted to His life, and later letters often describe Him as well. But even before the Lord Jesus was born, prophets wrote about Him. This reading plan is about a prophecy by Isaiah that tells us how special Jesus is.
