“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” (Phil. 4:8-9)
Prompt
“Whatever is admirable.”
What does it mean to think about whatever is admirable?
Well, what do we admire? I know personally, that I admire those people, stories, and ideas around us that call me to be greater than myself. And I don’t think I’m the only one. It’s almost as if we know we are capable of more, and seeing other people reach higher and climb farther encourages us to do the same thing.
And then, the real miracle happens: we become admirable! When those in our world see us living the radically changed lives Jesus has called us to, we become an “admirable thing” for others to think on!
God loves to use others, and God loves to use us. That’s admirable. Think about it!

Jesus, thank you for putting admirable people and things in my field of vision. I want to be encouraged by them so that I can have the courage to go deeper and fly higher than I ever have before. Give me the strength and will to be admirable to others. Amen.
