The First Letter of Johnნიმუში

Greater Is He That Is in You
This ‘testing of spirits’ is usually used, or rather misused, in church circles about whether a sermon or a preacher is preaching good theology. This passage has more to do with the influences we are exposed to in social media, popular culture, movies, music, and especially the self-talk and the thoughts we dwell on. Sometimes, our inner thoughts or opinions do not originate with us but have a darker source. We should test all thoughts to see where they come from. If they are thoughts and opinions that go against Christ being Lord of our lives, then they aren’t of God. These thoughts are in error.
We need to take responsibility for our thoughts. Remember, thoughts are like birds. You can’t stop a bird from flying over your head, but you can stop it from making a nest in your hair.
Devotional Question:
What are the thoughts you think of your country? Write down four, and then prayerfully discern whether they are godly thoughts or ungodly thoughts. What are God’s thoughts for your nation?
About this Plan

1 John is one of the most quoted books of the Bible, and for a good reason: John understood God’s love in a special way. As we explore the pages of this book, let that be our main goal: to understand the love of God better and better, and to grow closer to Him.
