Prayer 1: “Lord, Make Me Humble.”

Humility before God is of vital importance; the simple prayer of "Lord, make me humble!" can change your life.

But, as with anything, we can’t become humble without God’s help! We cannot do anything at all without His help. Remember what Jesus said in John 15:5: Without Him we can do nothing!

Why should we ask God to make us humble?

First Peter 5:5-6 tells us that God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. God's Word also shows us that Jesus was humble; and, of course, we are supposed to imitate Jesus.

Along the journey to humility, our part is to surrender ourselves to Jesus anew and afresh every day. As we do so, focusing on abiding in Christ moment by moment, He will do His part—which is to change our hearts and conform us to His image. God alone has the power to change our hearts.

God will give you clean hands and a pure heart if you will ask Him to do so.

I ask Him for this almost daily. (I wish that I asked every single day, but sometimes I forget). But every time I ask Him to make me humble, I feel Him drawing me a little bit closer to Himself.

He will do the same for you. If you will ask the Lord every day to make you humble, He will transform you and help you walk before Him in holiness and intimacy with Himself.
